Purpose: Mohini Pheromone Lure for trapping of male adult moths of Leucinodes orbonalis (commonly known as Brinjal shoot & fruit borer).
Target Crops: Brinjal
Impact: Damage to the plant is caused mainly by the larvae, which bores through the tender shoots, flower buds and fruits. It plugs the entry hole by its excreta. The infested terminal shoots and fruits ultimately drop out. The pest can cause 70 to 100% damage to the brinjal crops. Monitoring/Mass trapping of male moths by pheromones can be a best tool in decision making for an effective management of this pest.
Instruction to Use: It is recommended to be used with water trap.
Half-fill the trap with soapy water. Place the lure into the lure holder and secure it with the lure case. Affix the trap to a bamboo or wooden stake and ensure the trap height at 1-2 ft. above the crop canopy level.
» Regular servicing of trap is essential.
» Ensuring the trap to be half filled with soapy water throughout the season and remove all captured moths during each visit.
Time of Use: For monitoring 5-6 Lure per Acre. For mass trapping around 12 Lures per Acre are recommended. It is advisable to place the trap and lures coinciding with the time of initial attack of pest. Lure gets activated in 2 days and is effective for 45-60 days. For effective results, replace the Lure after 45 days.
Consult the local agriculture/horticulture department for best placement of traps and dose.
